Opening Ceremony of Trading for the Year 2009

On January 5, 2009, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated the first day of trading at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the year 2009. Also present at the event were the Finance Minister of Indonesia, who also acts as the Coordinating Minister for Economy, Dr. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the Chairman of Bapepam-LK, Dr. A. Fuad Rahmany, and the President Director of IDX, Mr. Erry Firmansyah, as well as several Ministers and other Government Officials.

The trading opening ceremony by the President of Indonesia held the theme of “Building Confidence in the Global Market Turbulence”. This theme reflected the optimism on the Indonesian Capital Market for the year 2009, after experiencing turbulence in 2008 due to the world financial crisis.

After the opening ceremony, the President of Indonesia, accompanied by the Finance Minister, performed a dialogue with the Capital Market participants.

At the end of the day, the index increased 6.04% and was closed at the level of 1.437,338.
